Your therapist will review your intake information and talk with you about your goals, areas of concern, pressure preferences, and any relevant health information before beginning your session. Your massage will be customized based on your needs and comfort level.
-
A 30-minute massage is best when you want to focus on one specific area. A 60-minute massage allows your therapist to address problem areas while still providing a more complete massage experience. Most of our clients choose a 60-minute session for their first visit.
-
Not necessarily. Your therapist can discuss your goals with you and customize your session based on what your body needs that day. If you are interested in a specialty service, such as prenatal massage, manual lymphatic drainage, hot stone massage, or another specific modality, please select the appropriate service when booking.
-
Wear whatever is comfortable for you when arriving. During your massage, you will undress only to your personal comfort level and will be professionally draped with sheets and blankets throughout your session.
-
Please provide complete and accurate information on your intake form and discuss your injury or concern with your massage therapist before your session. Your therapist will determine whether massage is appropriate and can customize the session to focus on specific areas when indicated.
Massage therapy may help relieve muscle tension and discomfort and support flexibility and range of motion. Massage therapy is not a substitute for medical diagnosis or treatment.
-
Swedish massage generally uses lighter to moderate pressure and flowing techniques to promote relaxation and reduce muscle tension. Deep tissue massage typically uses more focused pressure and techniques to address deeper layers of muscle and areas of chronic tension.
Your massage does not have to be entirely one or the other. Pressure and techniques can be adjusted throughout your session based on your needs and preferences.
-
Item descriptiThere isn't one schedule that's right for everyone. Some clients schedule massage weekly or biweekly when addressing ongoing muscle tension or discomfort, while others choose monthly massage for relaxation and general wellness. Massage should not feel painfully intense. Some focused or deep tissue techniques may create temporary tenderness or intensity, but you should still feel comfortable and in control.
If the pressure feels painful or uncomfortable, let your therapist know immediately so it can be adjusted. More pressure does not necessarily mean a more effective massage.
-
Please let your therapist know. We want you to be comfortable throughout your session and can make adjustments to the room, table, blankets, or other elements when possible.
-
Please include allergies and sensitivities on your intake form and discuss them with your therapist before your session. This includes sensitivities to lotions, oils, essential oils, fragrances, candles, or other ingredients.
Our standard massage lotion does not contain added fragrance, and we will do our best to avoid products that may cause a reaction.
-
Not at all. The amount of conversation is completely up to you.
Some clients enjoy chatting during their massage, while others prefer a quiet session. Aside from necessary communication about comfort, pressure, positioning, or treatment, you are welcome to simply relax.
After your massage…
-
Most clients are not sore after massage, although temporary tenderness can sometimes occur, particularly after deeper or more focused bodywork.
If you experience mild post-massage tenderness, gentle movement and normal hydration may help you feel more comfortable. Significant or persistent pain should be discussed with an appropriate healthcare provider.
-
We primarily use massage lotion rather than heavy massage oils, so your skin should feel moisturized rather than greasy.
-
It can if you choose to have your scalp or head massaged. If you would prefer that your therapist avoid your head or hair, simply let them know.
-
Staying normally hydrated is always a good idea, but you do not need to drink excessive amounts of water after a massage. Simply listen to your body and maintain your usual healthy hydration habits.
