Before we get started.......

Paperwork for first session
Please print and complete this paperwork prior to your first session.  Thank you!

Q.  Do you recommend a 30 minute or 60 minute session for my first massage?
A.  A 30 minute session is perfect for concentrating on one specific problem area.
During a 60 minute session, I can spend time on those "problem areas" and still
complete a full-body massage.  The 60 minute session is what the majority of my
clients schedule.

Q.  Do you accept insurance?
A.  I do not accept insurance, but please check with your insurance company as some
do a direct reimbursement back to the client.  I can provide you with an invoice for
your session and your company may cover some or all of the cost.  Also, some
flexible spending accounts cover the costs for massages.

Q.  What if I have a specific injury that I want you to work on?
A.  Please make sure you are accurate with the information on your medical
questionnaire.  This will help me to determine if massage is safe to perform with your
injury.  After we determine massage is indicated, I will adjust that day's session to
work on that specific problem area.  Massage can help to relieve pain, increase
range-of-motion, or release tension.

During the session.....
Q.  Do I have to get naked?
A.  I always encourage my clients to undress to the level they are comfortable.  For
some, that means taking all their clothes off.  For others, that means leaving their
underwear on.  I give you privacy to dress and undress and my clients are draped
with sheets and blankets at all times.  Breasts and genitals are NEVER exposed.

Q.  What if I like a lighter massage?
A.  Each client enjoys different levels of pressure.  I work from very lightly to very
deeply.  It is important for me to know if you would like more or less pressure.
Please provide me with feedback during our session so that I can make your massage
most effective and enjoyable for you.

Q.  Will the massage hurt?
A.  No massage should "hurt."  I encourage my clients to give me feedback on a
sensation scale (1 is no pain at all - 10 is "please stop right now.").  Some deep tissue
sessions may feel in the 6 - 8 range, but really shouldn't be more than that.  If they
are, please let me know and I will adjust the pressure.

Q.  What if I'm cold when I'm on the table?
A.  I try to keep the temperature of the room warm, but if at any time you are too
cold (or too warm), please let me know and I can adjust it to make you more
comfortable.

Q.  What if I'm allergic to scented candles or scented oils?
A.  It is imperative for you to tell me about any allergies/aversions you have to oils,
scents, candles, etc.  While the lotion I use does not have any added scents, I would
not want to use anything that would cause a reaction.

Q.  I like to be quiet during my massages.  Will you talk to me the whole time?
A.  The level of conversation during the session will be up to you.  Some clients like
to chat through their session, while others are completely silent.

After our session......
Q.  Will I be "greasy" after the massage?
A.  I use a lotion, rather than an oil, so you should feel moisturized, not greasy.

Q. Will my hair get messed up?
A.  There are some clients who like to have their head massaged.  In that case, you
may have to tidy up afterwards.  If you would not like me to work on your head,
please let me know and I can skip that altogether.

Q.  Will my muscles be sore afterwards?
A.  It's not likely that you will be sore after a massage.  However, if you received a
deep tissue massage you may feel tender the next day.  This could be caused from
the pressure of the massage, the release of toxins in your system, or the sensation of
your muscles relaxing after months of being tense.  If you do experience soreness,
please use an ice pack on the affected area.  Also remember to drink several extra
glasses of water, as that will help to flush the toxins out of your system.

If you have any other questions, please feel free to contact me or ask
during your next session!
